CHRISTIE HITS 1,000th DIGITAL CINEMA INSTALLATION MILESTONE
Christie Dominates Global DLP Cinema Landscape with Most Installations of Any Manufacturer
Christie, a major provider of visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry, announced the installation of its 1,000th Digital Cinema projector, a major milestone in the exhibition community, illustrating the rapid adoption of Digital Cinema that is transforming the movie-viewing experience everywhere. The accomplishment includes installations in the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Austria, Bulgaria, Africa, Canada, Asia and as of June 30th, more than 500 completed installations in the United States under the Christie/AIX plan in collaboration with Access Integrated Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIXD).

The milestone occurred in the United States at Carmike Cinemas, Inc., the third-largest exhibitor in the U.S., which is using Christie DLP Cinema projectors exclusively towards its goal of digitizing 100% of its screens. Christie, meanwhile, at its current rate of worldwide installations, expects to increase its market share and reach the historic 2,000th installation milestone by the end of 2006 - effectively doubling its current record and further solidifying its leadership in the industry.

"This is a significant moment in the history of the cinema industry that confirms the superior image quality delivered by the Christie DLP Cinema projector," noted Jack Kline, president and COO, Christie USA. "Christie is especially proud to be the first to reach this milestone because it was a year ago this month that we introduced an innovative Digital Cinema business plan. It proved to be the first practical solution for the adoption of the technology and led to the dramatic acceleration in the pace of global installations we see today."

Kline added, "A year ago today, no one could have predicted that Digital Cinema would enjoy such a successful - and rapid - acceptance in commercial venues. Today, no one doubts it. It is a win-win situation for the entire industry, providing a brilliant, razor-sharp image that wows audiences everywhere while dramatically reducing studio distribution costs. As the first licensee of Texas Instruments' revolutionary 3-Chip DLP Cinema technology, it seems only fitting that Christie should also be the first to 'break 1,000' and lead the industry with the most installations in the world."
