We are conducting research into high-quality video communication systems using SHD images. An SHD digital cinema distribution system we have developed as one of the high-quality video communication systems is able to store, transmit, and display digital video with quality of 35-mm films in terms of spatial resolution. This distribution system consists of three devices: video server, real-time decoder, and LCD projector. The SHD decoder decompresses the video streams transmitted from the server using Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), and outputs digital video data to the LCD projector with a display resolution of 3840x2048 pixels.
